American Ibiza (Las Vegas, NV)

Trip miles 6221
Daily miles 264

Mrs. Nomad went to LAX his morning to catch a flight back home and I set off to Las Vegas. The run started off with a lot of fog.

It soon cleared up and became a gorgeous if broiling day. The drive was very scenic, and there were many views off into the distance.

You could definitely tell when you reached the Nevada border. The landscape changed from being completely desert to desert plus a bunch of casinos.

I can't help but think there's a typo in here somewhere...

There's still tons of construction in Vegas, despite all of the economic problems you hear about.

And then I was entered the city, land of dreams. Here's a well known road and hotel.

And here's Vegas' version of New York.

Hmm... not like the real thing...

Here's a Herky Bird (C-130 Hercules) on final into McCarran International.

I met up with a buddy of mine, O' Nomad, who will provide company and help out with driving for the next few days.

We wanted to prepare ourselves for the arduous journey ahead, which meant relaxing in the sun for a while.
There are only two places in America that do beach parties really well, Miami and Vegas. Miami has a great scene and is more authentic, but Vegas can do it too. Here's a pic from my balcony.

Here's a slightly different view.

Here's a closeup.

The organizers were really aiming for an Ibiza like scene and they succeeded - this is easily the most authentic I've seen in this hemisphere.

Tomorrow we take off for Colorado!
